It occurred to me this week that we give Satan way too much credit and way too much attention.
As Christians, we are not called into battle against Satan. Jesus conquered that battle at the Cross. And He will return to finish the job. As for us, we are called to put on the full armor of God and to be a light in the darkness. This world is full of darkness because Satan is the ruler of this world. But he does not have dominion over our lives.
As warriors for Christ, let us not imagine ourselves as ninjas dressed in black silently advancing from behind. That's how Satan's army works. "For though we live in this world, we do not wage war as this world does." (2 Corinthians 10:3) Instead, let us stand our ground and put on the glowing white armor of God, shining brightly in the darkness and reminding one another that we don't have to live under Satan's thumb just because we live in his world.
We may never fully overtake the darkness. But we can expose the darkness for what it is and we can expand the areas of light. Let us use God's Word and our own to grow brighter and brighter so that we never find ourselves resting in Satan's shadow.
Psalm 91:1 - Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
