Amy first began practicing yoga at the age of twenty-three while living in the Los Angeles area. She quickly noticed that it was very effective in reducing and calming her stress, anger and anxiety. She noticed the physical effects of strength and a change her muscular tone as well; but it was the calming effect that brought her back again and again. Amy practiced yoga for sixteen years prior to receiving her first yoga teacher certification with Holy Yoga (225 hour program) in November 2016. Upon completion of that certification, she immediately enrolled in and completed the Holy Yoga Masters Course (300 hour program). Amy is passionate about teaching Christ-honoring yoga; but she was also excited to complete a training that would allow her to register with Yoga Alliance so that she can one day assist in providing continuing education trainings for other passionate yoga teachers. Because of this, she recently completed an additional 200 hours with Emery Bryant Yoga Teacher Training. Amy is drawn to a variety of yoga styles and hybrids including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Yin, Restorative, heated classes, Yogalates, and yoga with weights. She has taught over 300 hours to female students; and the truth that she has uncovered is that many woman are holding pain, grief, and other effects of unprocessed trauma. This manifests as anxiety, inability to manage stress, overeating, chronic pain, disease, as well as various forms of addiction, and self-harm. She believes that every woman deserves to be free; and that yoga is a modality that empowers woman to process past trauma and receive that freedom.
